Painting in the Dark with Tracy Bettencourt

When the Clarksville artist Tracy Bettencourt began to lose her eyesight in her early thirties due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, she refused to let the challenges of her disability define her. Instead, she reinvented herself by learning to paint, creating beautiful works that mirror her positive personality. Tracy stated, “My paintings reflect hope, adversity, love, positivity, strength, and determination.”

Now, she shares her artistic talent with students, offering a fresh perspective on viewing and creating art through her Painting in the Dark Workshops. In this unique creative experience, participants are blindfolded while Tracy guides each step in creating acrylic finger paintings. These workshops open up new possibilities for individuals with disabilities and foster a greater understanding for others.

Attend Painting In The Dark on Friday, April 19 6-8:00pm at Clarksville ReStore at 404 Madison St.
