Habitat for Humanity Registration for Women Build 2012

October 13, 2011, Clarksville, TN – Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TN is recruiting for Women Build committee leadership to prepare for the 2012 Habitat build season.

“We wanted a unique way celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2012 while engaging different communities and groups on the build site. We felt theme builds would allow participants to develop ownership throughout the event, while learning about the Habitat mission and ministry as well as making new friends and connections. We hope that these builds become a regular part of our Habitat outreach and something everyone can look forward to each year,” states Jennifer Kready, Executive Director.

“We’re recruiting committee members who want to take the lead on home construction activities and develop a plan that includes resource development to raise funds, materials, services and recruit volunteers for the build site. It takes a committed group of volunteers willing to fundraise, connect their contacts to a greater good, and be passionate about the Habitat mission throughout the 6-12 month process,” explained Kready. “Obviously the swinging hammers part is what most people look forward to, but what they don’t expect is when the experience takes hold deep in their heart. They realize that they’re building a future of stability, wealth, and happiness for a family who might not have had the opportunity without partnering with Habitat.”

Women Build encourages women of all skill levels and industries to partner on the build site with one mission: empower women to take action against poverty housing conditions. Women Build has constructed over 1,900 since its inception.

Registration to attend a Committee member interest meeting is available on the Affiliate website www.habitatmctn.org. Registration will close Friday October 21st with meetings scheduled thereafter.
