Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Tennessee in partnership with Home Depot Repair Corps and Frank Plumbing LLC were able to help Clarksville local Mrs. Dorneen Harris with multiple unexpected home repairs, amounting to over $2,000 by way of the A Brush with Kindness Initiative. This program was made to serve citizens of Montgomery County make their homes safer and easier to live in, so they can stay in their homes as they age.
Mrs. Dorneen Harris and her husband, Mr. Dwight Harris, who served in the U.S. Army for thirteen years, moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, about two years ago in hopes of finding more veteran support in the community. Since settling into the area, they had not experienced any major issues until about two weeks ago, when the couple received an unexpectedly high water bill. She later learned that it was caused by the leaks from her toilet and hot water heater.
When Mrs. Harris learned about A Brush With Kindness offered by Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County on June 5, 2026, she connected with Habitat and shared the issues she was experiencing in her home. Through partnership with Frank Plumbing LLC, repairs were completed within just 24 hours, on June 6, 2026.
“A Brush with Kindness made a great difference,” says Mrs. Dorneen Harris. “The help I received meant so much to me. Habitat for Humanity is a great help to this community. I feel 100% lighter because I don’t have to worry about any more high water bills. If anyone is in the same situation I was in, I would gladly share my story and refer them to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County.”
