Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County recently hosted a heartfelt Home Blessing ceremony at the construction site of a new home. This tradition symbolizes the community’s support and hopes for the future homeowners.
“This is a Habitat tradition,” said Rob Selkow, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County. “We pray a blessing over the home and write prayers, favorite Bible verses, and words of encouragement for our homebuyers, filling the space with love and positive energy.”
During the ceremony, a dozen family members and friends of the future homeowners, Nayah and Nasir Trotman, gathered to create a lasting memory of love and community support. They were the first to walk through the home, which is expected to be completed by Christmas.
The home is sponsored by Trent and Dana Guinn Knott in loving memory of Dotson Guinn, a dedicated businessman and community servant who passed away last year. His legacy of service lives on through this meaningful contribution to the community.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County builds new, single-family homes in partnership with qualified low-income applicants. Before receiving the keys to their homes, these families complete financial literacy and homeownership education classes. Habitat for Humanity does not give away homes; homeowners purchase their homes through an affordable 20-year mortgage. These mortgage payments are then reinvested into the community, helping to fund the construction of more homes for other families in need within Clarksville-Montgomery County.
